Our Human Written Standards & Policy

All of the articles and gear reviews on this website are written by an actual writer, Steve Weber. Some of the code for the website, and its mobile app, are enhanced by AI to improve the overall experience for you.

That’s it, and that’s all it will be for how we use AI.

Robots don’t know what it’s like to snowboard or skateboard.

We do, so let’s share that experience together, while we make sense of this very strange world and how technology platforms evolve.

Our Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy

  • Effective Date: 9/12/2026
  • Last Updated: 9/12/2026

At Board of the World, we value authenticity, human perspective, and original ideas. This policy was created to outline exactly how we use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to improve our website while maintaining total integrity in the written word of our content.

1. Absolute Commitment to Human-Written Content:

All articles, gear reviews, guides, copy, and creative text published on boardoftheworld.com are written first-hand by human creators (aka me, Steve Weber ). We do not use generative AI to write our articles for us, nor do we use it to steer the direction of what we write. Every piece of information, opinion, and insight written on this website comes directly from our team’s real-world expertise, research, and unique perspectives.

2. Permitted AI-Assisted Editing and Refinement:

While our content is entirely human-authored, we do use advanced AI tools (such as grammar checkers, style editors, and language models) purely for technical refinement to make the website and your experience on the site or mobile app better.

Here is exactly what we use AI to do that impacts our writing:

  • Improve Our Grammar: Correcting typos, punctuation errors, and knowing when my run-on sentences get a bit too hard to follow. Every AI writing suggestion goes through a final human review, and we never blindly accept automated changes that alter the original voice or intent of the author.

3. Use of AI in Website & Mobile App Interactive Features:

Now, while we don’t use AI for the writing itself, we do use AI to make our writing and concepts more digestible, more interactive, and to make the site perform better for you. These enhancements include:

  • Interactive Code & Styling Features: We occasionally use AI assistance to help us build, test, and optimise the code, interactive widgets, and layouts that power this website and its mobile app (Board of the World: Snowboard on the app stores).
  • Data Analysis: We use AI to help us understand the data behind our website and how we can optimize it to get you the information you really came here to see.
  • Automated Support (in the App): Our mobile app features a section where you can ask a question. In that section, we use automation to look through everything we’ve written on the site and try to come up with an accurate answer. If that answer isn’t good enough, we give you the option to just ask us over email.

4. Privacy and Data Protection:

We believe your data security is crucially important. When we use AI tools for proofreading or site optimizations, we strictly use platforms that respect your data privacy. We do not feed personal user information, comments, or sensitive community data into public AI models. (And we don’t share your information with anyone who is an actual human, either. You can read our full privacy policy to learn more.)

5. Continuous Oversight:

As technology changes, our core promise remains the same: This site exists to share our actual thoughts about gear, and not what an AI thinks that gear might feel like.

So, once again, all of the content you’ll read here is human-first, and the some of the code and features to improve the site’s experience are AI-assisted, and that’s all it will ever be here on Board of the World.
