Burton Custom Camber

Summary of the Burton Custom Camber Review

The Burton Custom Camber has a few features that make it one of the most versatile resort boards.

  1. It has a responsive feel with added power and pop for carving.
  2. It has a medium pressable flex for buttering and park riding.
  3. It’s built to be lightweight, durable, and noticeably fast.

For me, this is a completely approachable board that is fast, poppy, and ready for anything.

So Why Get This Board?

  • Because it’s so stable makes you a more confident rider.

close up of new burton custom camber logo

This is the type of board that feels so intuitive and precise that it makes you more confident to go bigger, faster, and try new tricks. While I probably didn’t become a better snowboarder just by using this board, the boost in confidence made me feel like I was riding better.

Pros of the Burton Custom Camber

  • It has a higher end and damp feel to it.
    • The nose and tail vibrated on rougher terrain, but I never felt those vibrations under my feet. The board has 45° Carbon Highlights that work to absorb all of that noise.
  • It carves well with a stable and precise feel.
    • This has a sidecut that is perfect for short tight turns.
    • The board excels in handling variations in terrain, ensuring a smooth ride even in messy or tracked-out snow.
  • It has an extra boost of pop for hitting jumps.
  • It is easily pressable for jibbing and buttering.
  • It is noticeably fast: Burton used its Sintered WFO Base for durability and speed. This is one of the reasons the board feels higher end.
  • It has a 3-Year Warranty.

Cons of the Burton Custom Camber

  • Not the Cheapest Board: This is on the pricier side for an all-mountain board.
  • It’s not the right option for really deep snow (around 16″ or more).
It will handle some light powder, but for anything over a foot and a half of snow, I’d recommend a more powder-focused board.

Who is the Burton Custom Camber the Right Board For?

The Burton Custom Camber is perfect for intermediate to advanced riders who want one all-mountain board they can take to the resort that will perform well in all conditions.

The Custom Camber’s versatility make it the right board for several different riding styles. So whether you prefer carving all over the resort, making aggressive turns, cruising through some light powder, or hitting the park, this is one board that handles all of that quite well.

Value for Its Price

One important note to mention is the board’s price tag.

The Custom Camber retails for $669.95, and it’s for the rider who truly believes “you get what you pay for.”

The Burton Custom Camber is snowboard $120 more than other comparable options (like the Jones Mountain Twin), so the rider who selects this board is looking for the best option out there from a premium snowboard brand. Read our Burton Custom Camber vs Jones Mountain Twin comparison article to learn more.

In other words, this board is for the type of rider who does not mind spending around 21% more for a snowboard if it will perform well and last them for years to come.

What About the Custom Flying V vs the Custom Camber?

This review is of the Burton Custom Camber. However, the Burton Custom also comes in a rocker profile version called the “Burton Custom Flying V.”

So which one should you get – the Flying V or Camber version of the Burton Custom?

In most cases, you’ll want to go with the Burton Custom Camber as it is the version with more power, pop, and grip for carving in all conditions.

It’s the more versatile option and the version that lives up to the tried and true “Burton Custom” name.

The Burton Custom Flying V’s rocker profile will be more forgiving for someone learning to carve.

2025 Burton Custom Camber with Cartel X Bindings
  • The Flying V design is particularly well-suited for powder due to its upward-curved nose, which helps keep the board on top of the snow.
  • The Burton Custom Camber’s traditional (positive) camber profile will be the more versatile all-mountain resort board option, so for most of you reading this, it will be the version of the board you want.
    • The Burton Custom’s traditional camber profile provides a level of precision, control, and response that makes it the more well-rounded option for all-mountain riding, ready to handle all types of conditions.

The Flying V version of the board is better suited for someone who rides in powder often, butters a lot, or is a beginner learning to ride and wants a durable, high-end first board to support them through their learning curve. Rocker boards like the Flying V are generally more forgiving and easier to ride compared to camber boards, making them ideal for those still developing their skills and effective in varied snow conditions.

Sizes Available

The Burton Custom Camber is available in 150cm, 154cm, 154cm Wide, 156cm, 158cm, 158cm Wide, and 162cm sizes. You can see this board’s full specs below here.

What Size Did I Ride?

I rode the 2025 Burton Custom Camber in the 156cm size.

For reference, I am 5′ 6″, 142 lbs, with a men’s US size nine boot. Normally, I would have selected the 154cm. However, Burton didn’t have that size at the Big Snow demo event, where I reviewed this snowboard.

  • I didn’t notice the 2cm larger difference at all, so sizing up or slightly down with this board doesn’t drastically change its feel.

What About Smaller Women’s Sizes of the Burton Custom Camber?

For 2025 and 2026, the women’s version of the Burton Custom Camber is called the “Burton Feelgood.”

Burton Feel Good Womens Snowboard

The Burton Feelgood is available in 142cm, 146cm, 149cm, and 152cm sizes, which extends the size range of the Custom Camber and makes it available for every rider.

The Feelgood is practically the same board as the Custom, just with a different graphic and a few smaller sizes. The tech in the snowboard is all the same.

Kids’ Sizes of the Burton Custom and Feelgood

Both the Burton Custom (men’s) board and Burton Feelgood (women’s) board are available in kids’ sizes, too. Burton calls the version of these boards for kids and teens “Smalls.” Here are the sizes the smalls version come in.

  1. The Burton Custom Smalls Camber Snowboard is available in 125cm, 130cm, 135cm, 140cm, and 145cm sizes.
  2. The Burton Feelgood Smalls Camber Snowboard is available in 130cm, 135cm, and 140cm sizes.

Actual Feel of the Flex Rating

Burton rates the 2025 Custom Camber is rated with a 6 out of 10 flex. That rating feels around one point too stiff, though. I would say the 2025 Custom Camber is closer to a perfect happy medium 5 out of 10 flex pattern.

Burton Custom Camber Flexing

I found the flex to be identical both longitudinally and torsionally. This is a board that can press, butter, and still have enough stability to carve well, offering a familiar feeling traditional camber ride.

It’s worth noting that the nose and tail of the board feel softer and more pressable than the center between the bindings. This design gives the board a playful, pressable feel and makes turning easier, while still maintaining stability and power underfoot.

One of the main reasons for the board’s unique, playful yet powerful feel is Burton’s ‘Pro-Tip’ design. This means that the tips of the Custom Camber are tapered to be thinner, with the board’s core gradually thickens toward the center between your bindings.

The Pro-Tip feature has three main benefits:

  • It reduces the swing weight as you spin off jumps.
  • It makes the board feel more pressable than its flex pattern suggests.
  • It makes the board easier to maneuver and helps with turn initiation.

Categorical Performance Notes for the Burton Custom Camber

All-Mountain Riding

Riding all over the mountain is where the Burton Custom Camber excels and what it’s meant for.

It’s such a versatile board that performs well all over the resort.

  • It’s fast, responsive, stable, and moderately damp for carving.
  • If it’s icy out, the Custom Camber has enough grip to power through.
  • For park riding, this board boosts off jumps while being pressable enough to jib rails and boxes.

It’s a tried and true board that will be perfect regardless of the conditions you ride it in. It even works beautifully as an in-door resort board.

Jumping

The Burton Custom Camber is a near-perfect jump board. Its camber profile adds an extra little boost of pop, and its Superfly II core makes it noticeably lightweight to help you maneuver the board in the air.

Overall, the Burton Custom Camber provides a stable feel for jumps that will give you a little extra confidence to go bigger and learn new tricks. It’s perfect for jumps of all sizes, but if you’re looking to hit massive jumps, I’d recommend checking out the stiffer Burton Custom Camber X.

RE: The Pop In This Snowboard

The pop in this board feels intuitive and is easy to get used to within a run or two.

It’s the type of pop that is simple to time perfectly and offers exactly as much snap out of it as the energy you put into it. So if you load the Custom Camber up, it’ll just send you.

Is it the most pop that I’ve ever felt?
No, but it is definitely offers more pop than average all-mountain board.
Out of a possible 10, I’d score the pop in the Burton Custom Camber at a solid 8.

The Wood Core of the Custom Camber is Its Highlight

It’s worth noting that the core of the new 2025 Custom Camber is a highlight for both the carving and jumping performance of this snowboard. The core is one of the main reasons this board is so special. It’s the feature that gives this board such a precise feel.

The Super Fly II™ 700G Core uses a mix of strong and light woods to enhance pop and strength while keeping the board lightweight and durable. The core is designed with Dualzone™ EGD™ – this means that the wood was strategically placed going against the grain towards the edges of the board. This provides for a stronger edge-hold, response, and strength. It basically makes the board a monster to carve and jump with.

Jibbing

Jibbing with the Custom Camber is an area where I thought the Custom Camber wouldn’t perform well, and I was wrong.

The 2025 Burton Custom Camber is actually a fun and stable board for jibbing. It’s got a flex pattern that makes it ridiculously easy to hold nose presses. Without being an overly flexible noodle. It finds the middle of the road sweet spot between stable while still being pressable.

How does it feel while board sliding features?

It feels like it works well without any surprises or rebounding that might trip you up.

The flex in the Custom Camber works well to mold the board around the feature which makes jibbing feel a little easier with this snowboard.

Buttering

The Burton Custom Camber does well enough with the occasional butter. The longitudinal flex allows you to easily press your nose or tail in while the torsional flex offers an easy way to constantly ensure your weight is uphill.

Buttering with new Burton Custom Camber

Is buttering performance a highlight of the Custom Camber?
Nope. I’d say if you’ll be buttering often, and don’t mind sacrificing some power and pop, consider checking out the Burton Custom Flying V version of this snowboard.

The rocker profile in that version will make buttering incredibly simple for you.

Powder

I didn’t get to test the 2025 Custom Camber in powder. However, since it hasn’t changed much from previous years, I can confidently say it handles light powder well, up to about a foot and a half of snow.

Burton Custom Camber Carving Indoor Powder

This board has a .49″ setback stance that helps to keep your weight back so the nose can point upward and out of powder (which helps you float on top of it).

Overall, the Custom Camber does well with some light powder, but it does have its limits. If you’ll be carving powder often, check out a more powder-specific board like the new Burton Alekesam.

Carving

The Burton Custom carves exceptionally well on hardpack, groomers, and light powder (under one foot). Here’s a breakdown of its key carving features:

Burton Custom Camber toeside turn 2025
  • The Sidecut: The sidecut impressed me. It made for a seamless edge-to-edge transition while offering a bit of pop out of each carve.
  • The Type of Turns: The sidecut handles well for short, tighter turns and can manage the occasional aggressive euro carve, though that’s not its primary strength.
  • The Flex’s Impact On Carving Performance: This is a mid-flexing board, which means it can be overpowered if you push it too hard or try to hit ultra-high speeds. The flex does well with normal speeds ranging from slow to moderately fast carves. It’s just those record breaking flat based 40mph speeds, that type of riding is meant more for the Burton Custom Camber X. -This version of the board is meant to be more versatile than that, though.

Speed & the Base

The WFO sintered base of the Custom Camber offers an above average level of speed (I’d say an 8 out of 10 on the speed scale) for such a versatile resort board. It is one of the main reasons for the higher price tag for this board.

The WFO base is made with an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (P-Tex). It offers a greater level of wax retention and feels a bit faster than the standard sintered base when it is waxed and maintained.

Base of new Burton Custom Camber

I rode the new Custom Camber at an indoor slope that tends to feel dry and usually slow. However, the Custom Camber had no issues maintaining its speed in the dry indoor conditions. It was more than fast enough to keep me flowing from feature to feature.

Stability

The board felt responsive and stable at all times while I rode it. With that said, it does have its limits with it being a mid flexing directional twin. It’s meant to offer response and stability for going the standard speed you would at a resort, though.

Burton Custom Camber 2025 Toeside Turn

If you’re looking to charge flat based at 40mph+ most of the time you ride, you’ll want to consider a stiffer board like the Burton Custom Camber X.

If you are the casual resort rider who charges fast now and again, the Burton Custom Camber’s speed and stability will be perfect for you.

A Note on Dampness

While reviewing my footage, I noticed the nose and tail were chattering at times when the terrain got choppy. The neat part was that I didn’t even feel it. The carbon and glass work together in this board to create a dampness that absorbs the noise other boards tend to feel.

The Burton Custom Camber vs. Jones Mountain Twin

The Burton Custom Camber is a lot like the Jones Mountain Twin in a few ways.

  • Both boards are popular award-winning directional twins meant to ride anywhere at the resort.
  • Both have sintered bases.
  • Both have a lightweight wood core.
  • The pop and flex personalities are similar.
  • Both have camber profiles between your feet.
  • Both have three year warranties.
  • Both are manufactured by environmentally conscious brands that did what they could during the manufacturing process to reduce the impact on our planet.
    • Example – Burton used eco-friendly Super Sap epoxy. This is a bio-based epoxy that comes from plants instead of petroleum.
    • Example – Jones used Bio Resin epoxy which is made with 27% plant-based carbon instead of petroleum-based carbon.

Burton Custom Camber Unique Features vs. the Jones Mountain Twin

Here are few stand out features of the the Burton Custom Camber over the Jones Mountain Twin.

  • The Burton Custom Camber is the more precise, better carving option of the two boards.
  • The Burton Custom Camber’s base is faster.
  • The Burton Custom Camber is damper and offers a more stable feel. It’s the board that feels like a better quality ride under your feet.
  • The Custom Camber features Burton’s channel slider mounting system. This allows you to better customize your stance as there are no prefilled holes.
  • It’s $120 more expensive than the Jones Mountain Twin.

Jones Mountain Twin Unique Features vs. the Burton Custom Camber

Here are few stand out features of the Jones Mountain Twin over the Burton Custom Camber.

  • The Jones Mountain Twin is the more beginner friendly option. – The profile is a hybrid Camber between the feet with a rocker up lifted 3d nose. The nose isn’t as catchy.
  • Jones Mountain Twin is the better option for East Coast (riding on ice) riding.
    • It has the better edge hold. Jones’ edge features Traction Tech 2.0. This feature is Jones version of Magne Traction where they add two additional contact points to help the board grip ice.
  • The Jones Mountain Twin has a 3d spoon-like curved nose that helps the board float better in deeper snow. (Both boards can float, but this feature makes the Jones Mountain Twin Float a little better by reducing friction of the contact points against the powder.)
  • The Jones Mountain Twin $120 cheaper than the Burton Custom Camber.

Review Wrap-Up: Is the Burton Custom Camber Worth It?

If you’re looking for a trusted all-mountain board to be your “one-board quiver,” then I can’t think of many boards that are more versatile than the Burton Custom Camber snowboard.

However, there are a few boards that come close to the performance of the Custom Camber, like the Jones Mountain Twin. If you’re open to exploring boards from other brands, you could save around $120 by opting for a non-Burton board.
